Requesting Active and Inactive Appraiser Trainee Status
Once you have your license, TALCB rules allow you to request Inactive or Active status for the license. This may be useful if your career changes direction and you wish to keep your license but not actively perform appraisals for a period of time.
To request inactive status for your current license, you must:
If you are an Appraiser Trainee, the Termination of Appraiser Trainee Supervision form must be signed by the Appraiser Trainee or the supervising Certified Appraiser. If you have more than one supervisor, a form and fee is required for each supervisor being removed.
Once TALCB grants a request for inactive status, your current license will not be valid until you request Active status. PLEASE NOTE: Placing your license on inactive status does not relieve you of the responsibility of meeting your renewal deadlines.
For more information about Inactive, Active status and renewals, see TALCB’s rules.
To request active status for your current license, you must:
- Complete 28 hours of approved ACE courses for each two-year renewal period the license has been inactive. The 28 hours must include the 7-hour National USPAP Update course; and
- Submit the Addition of Appraiser Trainee Supervision form.
To return to active status, the Addition of Appraiser Trainee Supervision form must be signed by both the Appraiser Trainee and the Certified Appraiser supervisor. If you have more than one supervisor, a form and fee is required for each supervisor being added.
For more information about Inactive, Active status and renewals, please review TALCB’s rule.
