TALCB Makes Updates to Mentorship Program, Adopts Rules, and Discusses AQB Exposure Draft
03/08/2023The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board met last month and appointed Board Member Mark McAnally as secretary with Martha Gayle Reid Lynch re-appointed as vice chair.
TALCB Mentorship Program Updates
The Board approved a new process for appointing new TALCB Mentors yearly. TALCB Mentors work one on one with appraisers required to complete remedial education.

Gov. Abbott Appoints Raheela Ahsan to AMC Advisory Committee
03/01/2023Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Raheela Ahsan of Dallas to the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board's (TALCB) Appraisal Management Companies Advisory Committee. The Committee advises TALCB and makes recommendations on matters relating to the regulation of appraisal management companies.

What is the TALCB Mentorship Program?
12/27/2022Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board Mentors are an essential component in ensuring appraiser competency. Mentors are licensed appraisers who have 10 or more years of experience, no disciplinary history, and are certified Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) instructors or approved instructors for other recognizable appraiser designations.

Annual AMC Registry Reporting Starts in January 2023
12/22/2022Appraisal Management Companies registered with TALCB must complete AMC National Registry mandatory reporting and pay the registration fee by March 31, 2023. AMCs that do not timely comply will not be added to the national registry, resulting in ineligibility to perform services on federally related transactions. In addition, failure to timely comply will result in a late fee of $500 and may result in disciplinary action.

TALCB Discusses Complaints, Adopts and Proposes Rule Changes
12/07/2022The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board met December 2 and heard updates from staff, discussed the new partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission Civil Rights Division to each review consumer complaints that allege appraisal bias, and adopted and proposed changes to rules.

09/21/2022Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Frank Towery Jr., and reappointed Julia Hayes to the Appraisal Management Companies Advisory Committee for terms set to expire on January 31, 2024.
The Committee advises the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board and makes recommendations on matters relating to the regulation of appraisal management companies.
