Greetings to each of you. I hope you were able to celebrate Independence Day earlier this month with your friends and family and had a wonderful time doing so.
Appraiser Evaluations Bill
During the 87th Texas Legislative Session this spring, the appraiser “evaluations bill” or HB 2533 was passed. This bill could impact the way some appraisers conduct their work. The Board and staff are currently working on a full overview of the bill and guidelines for license holders. This bill had an effective date of June 14, 2021, more to come soon.
Upcoming Meetings
In July, the Board will be hosting several committee meetings.
- TALCB Education & Licensing Committee Meeting – July 15
- TALCB Enforcement Committee Meeting – July 19
- TALCB Budget and Finance Committee Meeting – July 21
These hardworking committees provide the “roll up your sleeves” work that ultimately leads to recommendations for the full Board. The public is welcome at these meetings; participating is a hands-on way to expand your understanding of the Board’s work.
Licensing Database Replacement
I mentioned in May that the agency had begun the process of replacing our licensing database system. We are working with our vendor to complete requirements gathering which will inform the scope of work for the new system. We continue to work towards the implementation of this new system in 2023.
I hope each of you is enjoying your summer. It is good for the soul to get out and enjoy the celebrations we all missed last year. I am forever grateful after the previous year we have had to celebrate with friends and family. As we move into the hottest part of the year, I am especially appreciative for the pools and parks to be open again, so we can cool off and continue to enjoy our great state of Texas!
