The year 2020 will undoubtedly be remembered by each one of us. After enduring the stay at home orders, many of us emerged to an extremely busy year as appraisers. All of us emerged to a new normal. Despite the interruptions, the Board also forged ahead in our work serving the great state of Texas. At our last quarterly board meeting of 2020 in mid-November, we welcomed a new board member, Rolando Castro of Cypress, and a new AMC Advisory Committee Member, Julia Hayes of Beaumont.

TALCB Looking For Mentors
12/04/2020TALCB is accepting applications to become an approved Mentor. Volunteering to become a Mentor is a way for an experienced appraiser to serve the public interest and contribute to the appraisal profession by working one-on-one with appraisers required to complete remedial training and education. Mentors agree to serve for a two-year period and are a key component of the agency's process to ensure appraiser competence.

TALCB Recognizes Extension of AQB Temporary Relief for Classroom Courses
11/19/2020The Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) arm of The Appraisal Foundation (TAF), authorized by The Appraisal Subcommittee (ASC), has extended a temporary alternative to courses approved for classroom delivery through December 31, 2021.

11/18/2020License holders are encouraged to complete a course evaluation each time they complete a course through a TREC or TALCB approved education provider.

When preparing course applications, be sure they are filled out completely, all necessary documents are included and the fee is accurately calculated. Course applications and fees received separately will be sent back to the provider.
Course Evaluations
All providers are required to provide each student with a course evaluation form approved by the Commission or Board.

Updates to the Continuing Education (CE) Posting System
11/16/2020The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board (TALCB) is pleased to announce the updated CE Posting System. This system allows providers of appraiser CE (ACE) courses to post course credit directly into the agency’s system of record. Providers are required to post course credit within 10 days of course completion.

Governor Appoints Castro to the Board

Castro to the Board with a term set to expire on January 31, 2023. Mr. Castro succeeds Jim Jefferies of Georgetown. The Board thanks Mr. Jefferies for his dedicated service to the people of Texas.

AMC Committee Appointments Announced
09/24/2020AUSTIN, TX - The Texas Appraiser Licensing & Certification Board (TALCB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Julia Hayes and the reappointment of David Mentesana to the Appraisal Management Company (AMC) Advisory Committee with terms to expire in January 2022. The Vice-Chair of TALCB, Martha Gayle Reid Lynch, will continue to serve as the chair of the AMC Advisory Committee.
