    The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board takes pride in providing high quality education and licensing services, and effective consumer protection across Texas. In recent months, there have been significant issues with the quality of customer service we are providing to consumers and to our license holders. I take personal responsibility for addressing these issues.

    Have you submitted documents for review? Every Monday we will post the received date of the documents that we are currently processing.

  • More Flexibility Coming for Supervisory Appraisers

    At its meeting on February 9, the Board approved for adoption an amendment to rule 153.21 that, once implemented, will allow an experienced Supervisory Appraiser to supervise up to five Appraiser Trainees at one time under certain conditions. Current rules allow a qualified Supervisory Appraiser to supervise up to three Appraiser Trainees at one time.

  • From the Chair - March 2018

    The Board held its regular quarterly business meeting on Friday February 9th , and we offered appraiser continuing education (ACE) hours for attendance, so we had a number of extra license holders join us that day.  The Board members elected Martha Gayle Reid Lynch as Vice-Chair and Earl “Buster” Renfrow as Secretary for the next 12 months.

  • 2nd Annual Residential Realty Summit

    Monday, April 2 in Austin from 10 AM to 3 PM.

    Join us for our Agency’s 2nd annual Texas Residential Realty Summit. This annual conference focuses on current issues affecting the successful closing of single family residential transactions transaction from an interdisciplinary perspective.

  • Agency Strategic Planning Tour Announced

    AUSTIN, TX - The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) and the Texas Appraiser Licensing & Certification Board (TALCB) are pleased to announce our biennial strategic planning listening tour. License holders and the public are invited to participate in the agency’s preparation of its 2019-2023 Strategic Plan by offering input at one of the following sessions:

  • From the Commissioner - February 2018

    The next regular quarterly meeting of the TALCB is just around the corner and it promises some unusual excitement. Please note that the importance of this meeting is emphasized by the fact that an appraiser credential holder may receive up to four hours of appraiser continuing education (ACE) for attending the entire meeting.

  • From the Commissioner - January 2018

    Happy New Year! It’s January and 2018 promises to be filled with important activity. First, our federal oversight agency, the Appraisal Subcommittee will visit us in early February to complete their biennial audit. Their last two visits have resulted in a clean audit with no findings and we expect the same this year as well.

  • From the Chair - December 2017

    The Board met for its regular quarterly meeting on November 17th in Austin. The meeting was very productive.  Members heard reports from the staff and all of its advisory committees, considered and decided several disciplinary cases, and adopted several rules that had been proposed in August.
