08/31/2018Austin, TX – The Texas Real Estate Commission and Appraiser Licensing & Certification Board is pleased to announce the agency has won two coveted Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO) Communications Awards. One is for the new integrated communications plan, and the other for Board and Commission meeting communications.

Another TALCB Win for Consumers
05/21/2018AUSTIN, TX - The Texas Appraiser Licensing & Certification Board (TALCB) is pleased to announce an important win for consumers in Texas. Former real estate appraiser trainee, James P. Edwards, has been indicted in Tarrant County District Court on 16 different felony counts. This criminal prosecution protects Texas consumers from Edwards’ illegal and deceptive appraisal activities.

We did this in order to ensure we considered whether to adopt the new Appraiser Qualification Board’s criteria for education and experience that went into effect at the federal level on May 1, 2018.

The Sunset Review of the Texas Real Estate Commission and Texas Appraiser Licensing & Certification Board

AQB Criteria Changes Effective May 1, 2018
04/17/2018The Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB) adopted changes to the education and experience criteria for real property appraisers with an effective date of May 1, 2018, and the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board adopted rules to implement these changes in Texas to coincide with the AQB effective date. Under the new criteria, no college-level education is required to obtain a Licensed Residential appraiser credential.
