The law requires TALCB to audit the work product of all applicants for an appraiser license in Texas. TALCB must verify that the experience claimed generally complies with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), the Rules (“Rules”) of the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board (TALCB), and the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Act (“Act”) as of the date of the appraisal report.

When I was named the Deputy Executive Director of TREC and the Deputy Commissioner of TALCB in August of this year, part of my expanded role at the agency was to focus on the agency operations, particularly the frontline customer service aspects of licensing and call center performance.

The Sunset Commission has published on its website the Staff Report for the Texas Real Estate Commission and the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board. The Commission and Board will hold a joint meeting on October 12^th in Austin to coordinate the Agency’s written response.
