Chelsea Buchholtz serves as Executive Director of the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) and the Texas Appraiser Licensing & Certification Board. She is the first female in the agency’s history to serve in that role. Prior to serving as the Executive Director, Buchholtz served as TREC’s General Counsel for a short time.
Before joining the team at TREC, Buchholtz was deputy director of operations for the Community Development and Revitalization Division of the Texas General Land Office. Buchholtz also previously worked for the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, moving from deputy general counsel to general counsel to chief of staff, and served as assistant general counsel and a policy advisor to Governor Rick Perry. She began her legal career clerking for Justice Phylis Speedlin, on the Texas Court of Appeals, Fourth District, in San Antonio.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Abilene Christian University and a JD from Pepperdine University School of Law. She completed the Governor’s Executive Development Program in 2013. In her spare time, Chelsea enjoys the outdoors, cooking, reading and spending time with her husband and young daughter.
